Casamigos Margarita With Reposado Tequila.

This Casamigos Margarita Recipe is one of my favorites as the Reposado Tequila adds so much flavor making it a delicious drink any time of the year. The key to this delicious margarita is the type of tequila. Casamigos Tequila is the smoothest tequila out there, and you only need 3 ingredients to make this margarita! You all will love this margarita cocktail, which might even make you a tequila fan if you aren’t already one.

📃 What is Casamigos Tequila?

Casamigos, also known as “House of Friends,” was created by Actor George Clooney and his long-time friends Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman. Their vision was to make the best-tasting and smoothest tequila that didn’t have to be covered up with salt or lime. They worked with a master distiller in Jalisco, Mexico, for years and held many blind tastings until they had got the perfect tequila. They have 4 different tequilas: Blanco, Reposado, Anejo, and Mezcal.

For our house margarita recipe, we love and use Casamigos Reposado to make the best-tasting classic Margarita. Their Reposado has a deep golden color and notes of tropical fruits and oak with a touch of sweetness. It’s a winner in our book.

🥃 What is a House Margarita?

In a traditional Classic Margarita, there are 3 key ingredients to it: tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. In our classic margarita, we skip the triple sec and add fresh-made simple syrup. If you want to make this a Casamigos skinny margarita, add agave nectar in its place.

Ingredients to make Casamigos Reposado Margarita.

What goes in a Margarita without Cointreau:

  • Casamigos Reposado Tequila
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Simple syrup made with cane sugar and water

We have tried Casamigos Blanco Tequila and Añejo Tequila and enjoy them in this margarita recipe. They, of course, will have a different flavor. Blanco Margaritas won’t have a deep complex flavor like Reposado Margaritas, and Añejo Margaritas have an even more robust flavor than Blanco and Reposado.

We like to use Blanco Tequila for margaritas with fresh fruit like watermelon or mango. We used Tequila Blanco over Reposado because, in our opinion, Reposado can take away that fresh fruity flavor or sometimes over enhances the fruit.

Our go-to margarita for Añejo Tequila is Ginger Margaritas or Strawberry Margaritas. Añejo Tequila has vanilla notes to it, which pair very nicely with strawberries and ginger. Anejo Tequila can also be enjoyed as a Tequila Old Fashioned.

How to make Simple Syrup for Margarita?

We have tested all types of sugar and found that Cane Sugar or Turbinado Sugar is the best. These 2 sugars are minimally processed compared to others, like granulated or caster sugars; therefore, they both retain more of the plant’s flavor and natural molasses, making a very delicious simple syrup for margaritas.

There are 2 ways we make simple syrup at home.

  • Option 1: Pour equal parts of hot water with sugar into a glass using a tea kettle. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  • Option 2: Add equal parts of water and sugar to a saucepan and heat up on a burner until sugar is dissolved

If you are making a margarita immediately, place the simple syrup in the freezer for about 10 minutes to cool. Once made, store homemade simple syrup in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

How to make a Casamigos Margarita?

  • Make the Homemade Simple Syrup.
  • Add ingredients and ice. Add Reposado tequila, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and ice to a cocktail shaker.
  • Rim the glass: Optional – but if you like a salt rim for your margaritas, we recommend only rimming one side with salt. To do this, rim half of a highball glass with a lime wedge and dip the glass in a bowl with kosher or flaked sea salt.
  • Shake and strain. Shake vigorously and strain the drink into a highball glass filled with ice.
  • Garnish and serve. Add a fresh lime wedge or dehydrated lime wheel. Make it fancy and enjoy.
